Meet our leadership team:

Carol Helsel

General Manager

Carol’s 30+ years of experience as an executive in healthcare, restaurants, and service agencies, has helped her grow an extensive portfolio of skills.  She now uses her acquired skills to lead Third Coast Test and Balance. She has experience overseeing operations (buildings and grounds, food service, IT, marketing, sales, safety), human resources (including payroll and benefits), and has had responsibilities for strategic planning, business development, mergers, acquisitions, and setting standards of excellence. Additionally, Carol has helped her employers achieve awards of recognition and has given presentations on best practices to state-wide and national audiences. Carol also volunteers her time serving on boards and committees. Currently, she is a board member for MiSHE (Michigan Society for Healthcare Engineering) and BOMAWM (Building Owners and Managers Association West Michigan) and is a Co-Chair for the Inforum AEC Affinity Group. 

Eric Bale

Project Manager/NEBB CP

Eric has over 18 years’ experience in HVAC Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing including Building Commissioning. His extensive knowledge includes working with complete HVAC operations, understanding the design of the system, how the system is built and installed, and how temperature controls work. Eric works as the project manager and lead estimator, ensuring excellence and optimal quality service. Eric is an expert in balancing air and water systems and has a reputation of being able to identify and resolve complicated and challenging issues. He has achieved the highest level of certification (Professional status) in testing, adjusting, and balancing environmental systems from NEBB (National Environmental Balancing Bureau). NEBB is the premier international certification association. In addition to his professional role, Eric serves as the Treasurer for the Michigan Chapter of NEBB. 

Mike Kubizna

Lead Test and Balance Engineer

Mike has over 15 years of experience in the HVAC Test and Balance industry. He maintains his extensive knowledge in complete HVAC system operations. This includes air and hydronics, understanding system designs, how the system is built and installed, as well as building efficiency. Mike is highly knowledgeable of temperature controls operations and building commissioning to ensure a quality operating system for each client. He has a reputation for excellent customer care and relations for meeting all client’s needs. In addition to these invaluable skills, Mike excels at troubleshooting HVAC systems with a broad knowledge of all types of hydronic systems. He also performs project management, estimating and field supervision. Mike has completed training with an accredited provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. Furthermore, Mike has successfully completed a 2 year electrical apprenticeship and is licensed to operate heavy equipment.

Al Comstock

Senior Test and Balance Engineer

Al’s experience as an HVAC Test and Balance Technician spans almost 35 years. He’s completed training with an Accredited Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. Additionally, he has received a Clean Room certification and passed the technician test from NEBB. In his career, he’s performed testing and balancing work in thousands of organizations throughout the state. Al is also the designated trainer for Third Coast, helping ensure his knowledge is passed on to all apprentices and technicians.
